About the role

We are currently looking for a Civil Engineer with around 4-5 years’ post-graduate experience to join our friendly team in Maroochydore at our Sunshine Coast office. Local knowledge will be well regarded. You will ideally have, or be actively working towards, RPEQ status within the next two years.

This is a full-time, permanent role for someone who is serious about their professional development and looking to commit to the long-term success of the business.

The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist in the design and management of multiple civil engineering projects in a manner that aligns with Westera principles and current industry regulations.

Some mentoring will be required within and across project and multidisciplinary teams. There is an expectation to develop strong internal and external working relationships with key clients, architects, government authorities and support services.

This is a dynamic role in and fast-paced environment that exposes you to the variety of challenging and stimulating projects we work on. The successful applicant will love finding excellent, innovative solutions for clients and seeing their work come to fruition.

All team members must comply with the company’s ISO Accredited Quality Management System and contribute to the continuous improvement of the business.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have over four years’ post-graduate experience, hold a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, and be actively working towards CPEng or RPEQ status in order to progress your career with us.

Sound project management and intermediate-to-advanced software design skills are essential in this role. You are both comfortable mentoring team members and working under supervision from peers as required.

You should be able to demonstrate your business acumen where you have, individually or within a team, maximised margin through an understanding of scope, cost, variation and your overall understanding of the financial and contractual obligations of projects you have worked on. Local knowledge will be an advantage.

You are competent at solving problems with routine technical matters. You apply creative, efficient and effective design solutions with strict adherence to regulations and code compliance. You similarly approach and apply solutions to complex matters under supervision, or with guidance of, senior professional engineers as required.

You should be approachable and demonstrate advanced communication skills to engage and build rapport with all internal and external stakeholders. You should be proactive in your learning, development and enthusiastic about growing your career with us. You are driven to produce designs that are creative, compliant, cost-effective, and add value.  Your consistency in delivering a service to our clients that exceeds their expectations will bolster your ongoing success and future development with us.

You must have Australian work rights and hold a current, unencumbered driver’s licence to apply for this role.
