PROJECTS /HARGREAVES AVENUE

Situation
Located in a prestigious street on the banks of the Brisbane River, this existing residence was devastated by the floods in January 2011. After the cleanup effort, the owners were prompted to look at expanding their home to rebuild and refresh its appearance.

Solution
By altering and expanding the living areas, the architect created an open plan living space incorporating high ceilings. Westera Partners were able to enhance this design by ensuring the bracing of the structure was resolved within the minimal wall elements, developing a construction solution that married in with the existing structure and was hidden within the architectural build up.

Results
The large windows and spans, in addition to the cross flow of breeze, truly capture the beauty of the river. Soon all will be forgiven for the devastation caused, as this design does justice to its natural surroundings.
